Wait on the LORD

Wait on the LORD, And keep His way, And He shall exalt you to inherit the land; When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it. (Psalms 37:34 NKJV)

It is interesting when you look at different translations of the Bible how the words vary slightly.  It is good to look at different translations as it helps you get a better picture of what the verse is saying.  I first looked at this verse in the NIV which says, “Hope in the LORD” where the New KJV says “Wait on the LORD”.  The NLT says, “Put your hope in the LORD”.  How do you put “wait” and “hope” together?  When you wait on the LORD you have hope and faith in knowing that when He makes a promise He will keep it.  Throughout the Bible there are promises of God’s love for us.  He longs for us to be with Him throughout all eternity.  We are waiting with hope and faith knowing that God will someday destroy sin and take us home with Him.

Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. (Revelation 21:2-3 NKJV)
