We look on the outside – God looks on the inside.

But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 NIV

First impressions are not always accurate. We meet someone and think, they seem ____. But when we get to know the person, they are nothing like what we first thought. We often look at the outside of a person. For example, we may see a person difficult to get along with. What we don’t know is the pain that is brewing on the inside, causing them to act in ways that push people away. The sonshine of God’s love can penetrate through the rough exterior and bring God’s love to that person. Loving a prickly pear person can be difficult, but keep showing them love because behind the prickly exterior is a beautiful flower waiting to open.
