What Caused Rebellion?

How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.” (Isaiah 14:12-14 NIV)

Satan’s original name was Lucifer, Morning Star, son of the morning.  What thoughts did Lucifer have that caused his rebellion?  He thought he was better than everyone else.  He even thought he knew more than God.  He was proud of his beauty and wisdom.  He felt equal or better than God.  He wanted the honor and glory that God received.  His self-exaltation was his downfall.  When we are good at something and people tell us how good we are it can cause us to desire self-exaltation.  We have to be careful not to let praise to go our head.  One way to avoid self-exaltation is to redirect the praise we receive to the glory of God.  If He didn’t give us the gift we would not have had the ability to do the job.  Many times it is not one person but a team that was responsible.  Redirecting the praise to the team will help keep the praise from going to our head.

Please pray for the shooting victims and their families in Texas and all over the world.  The people of God are under attack by Satan.
