What is your motive?

If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing. (1 Corinthians 13:3 NLT)

It is important to support our local food banks, shelters for the abused, and homeless.  There are organizations that help feed starving children around the world and opportunities for children to go to school. There are organizations that help families learn a trade so that they can provide for their families. These organizations depend on.

Did you know that those in the lower-income bracket give a higher percentage of their income to helping others than the wealthy? There is an advantage to giving to charities – tax breaks.  Getting a tax break is not a bad thing. What is your motive for helping others? To get something in return? To get recognition for donating? Paul says our motive should be LOVE.  Giving of our time and money keeps us from being greedy.  When we help others out of love, we are showing our love for God.  We are his hands and feet.
