Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth. (Mark 10:21-22 NIV)
At first glance when you read this story you feel sorry for the young man who came to Jesus because he was empty. He wanted more out of life and actually pursued it. But when Jesus told him to give up everything to follow Him, he couldn’t. I can’t feel sorry for the young man. Instead, I feel sorry for me. How many times did I hold on to what I wanted instead of doing what God wanted for me? Praise God He doesn’t give up! He keeps whispering my name……and yours. For this reason I worship Him!
