When I Am Afraid

But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. Psalm 56:3 (NLT)

Recently at church in filling out cards after a service we asked people what was keeping them from stepping out for God.  The #1 response? Fear. We are afraid of a lot of things; loss of job, health problems, divorce, death, that we won’t be successful. There is so much more. Maybe the fear comes from the fact that we think we have to do it all and we leave God out of the picture. God promises over and over again in the Bible how he will keep us, protect us and love us. And yet we are still afraid, probably because in our eyes we fall short.  But God’s promises are not dependent on us, they are dependent on Him. It doesn’t matter how well we can do things; it matters how well He can take what we do (even our messes) and use it. He’s #1 at that.
