When You Don’t See Results

I replied, “But my work seems so useless! I have spent my strength for nothing and to no purpose. Yet I leave it all in the LORD’s hand; I will trust God for my reward.” (Isaiah 49:4 NLT)

Have you ever felt that your work to help spread the Gospel seems to go nowhere?  People you studied with seemed on fire to know the Lord but them for some reason they turn cold?  Or maybe you had a vision to open an outreach center where you can help those in need to give them food and clothing. The more you tried to fulfill the vision, more and more roadblocks were in the way preventing you from going forward.

Isaiah felt this way.  He had been tasked to encourage the people to turn to the Lord.  To have a revival of the heart because the day was coming when they would be conquered by another nation.  People didn’t listen.  They persecuted Isaiah because they thought he was telling lies.  Isaiah was discouraged because he couldn’t do more.  He did want we need to remember to do when roadblocks keep us from following God’s command and that is to turn the problem over to the Lord.  Put it in God’s hands. He will bring you peace.

When Isaiah turns his problems over to the Lord, he is told:

He says, “You will do more than restore the people of Israel to Me. I will make you a light to the Gentiles, and you will bring My salvation to the ends of the earth.” The LORD, the Redeemer and Holy One of Israel, says to the one who is despised and rejected by the nations, to the one who is the servant of rulers: “Kings will stand at attention when you pass by. Princes will also bow low because of the LORD, the faithful One, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.” (Isaiah 49:6-7 NLT)

Don’t worry if you don’t see immediate results from your work.  God has it under control.  The seeds you have planted will grow under God’s protection and guidance.  You may not see the results until Heaven.
