Where Are You?

When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man and his wife heard the Lord God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the Lord God among the trees. Then the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” Genesis 3:8-9 (NLT)

When Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the tree, they hid. It is kind of hard to hide from God but they tried. He knew where they were and he went looking for them. He wanted them to know that he hadn’t gone anywhere. He doesn’t run away, instead he runs right into the mess with us. Jesus did the same. He came to be near us, to show us God’s love in a way that was real. He came into the mess so we would truly understand how cherished we are.

So the Word became human and made His home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen His glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. (John 1:14 NLT)
