Where are you?

There he went into a cave and spent the night. And the word of the LORD came to him: “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 1 Kings 19:9 NIV

Background: Elijah has just had a mountain top experience with the false prophets of Baal (see 1 Kings18 & 19). The Lord wins the contest, and the false prophets are killed. Ahab’s wife, Jezebel is not happy that her prophets were destroyed and promises to destroy Elijah. Elijah runs for fear of his life. He ends up hiding in a cave. This is when God comes to him and says what are you doing here.

The same question can be ours. Where are we? Are we doing what God wants us to do or are we like Jonah and running from God?

If God could meet the challenge on Mount Carmel, He can meet any challenge we are facing. We have nothing to fear.
