Who Will You Choose?

So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, “Which one do you want me to release to you: Jesus Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?” Matthew 27:17 NIV

Never offer a choice that you can’t live with. Pilate thought the people would prefer to release an innocent man instead of a hardened criminal. It was a no-brainer in his mind. He was sure they would choose to release Jesus. But no, the crowd was incited against Christ. They choose to send an innocent person to a horrible death.

The Father could have sent legends of angels to protect Jesus, or he could have sent down a bolt of lightning and destroyed the crowd. No, He chose to allow His only Son to die on the cross to take our place. Jesus died to take the penalty of death for our sins. We have eternal life today because of the choices the Father and Son made many years ago.

We have a choice today. Whom will we choose?
