And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession–to the praise of his glory. (Ephesians 1:13-14 NIV)
In studying about the gifts we receive from God I came across this verse. Basically it says, when we believe in Jesus and accepted the gospel as our road to salvation that we were given the gift of the Holy Spirit; a promise, a seal, God’s signature on our life so we know we are not alone. The Holy Spirit is a deposit of sorts so that we will be able to make it to our inheritance, which is eternal life. The Holy Spirit will guide us, teach us and love us all the way through. The Holy Spirit is God’s investment in our lives so the original price paid (Jesus death) will be made complete. What kind of God would give and give and give just so we can be with him forever?
