Putting Our Priorities on Jesus

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33 NIV

In our verse today, Jesus says, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

This verse comes from the Sermon on the Mount, where Jesus teaches his disciples about various aspects of living a righteous life and seeking the kingdom of God above all else. In this passage, Jesus is encouraging his followers to prioritize God’s kingdom and righteousness over worldly concerns such as food, clothing, and other material needs.

The key message of Matthew 6:33 is about prioritizing our relationship with God above all else. By seeking God’s kingdom and righteousness first, we trust that God will provide for our needs. It emphasizes the importance of faith and reliance on God’s provision rather than worrying about worldly matters.

This verse has been a source of encouragement and guidance for Christians throughout the centuries, reminding them and us to keep our focus on God and His will in our lives. It encourages a life centered on faith and obedience to God’s teachings, trusting that everything else will fall into place according to His plan.
